Chelsea owner Todd Boehly spent over $600 million on transfers this season. It was in response to his statement that they were all in a hundred percent when he acquired the team in May 2022.
According to bookie PPH sources, he promised to acquire the best talents and invest in the team for the long run. He did that. However, his investment failed to get positive results. The American billionaire learned how soccer is tricky to master.
Aside from Chelsea, Boehly owns the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Sparks, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Unfortunately, Chelsea suffered a lot this season. According to pay per head sportsbook reports, the team had four managers but had nothing to show for its efforts.
Chelsea Owner Invested Millions
When Chelsea lost the Champions League quarterfinals against Real Madrid by a score of 4-0 on aggregate, the club was eliminated from all cup competitions and had no hope of qualifying for next season's lucrative European soccer tournament.
Even if interim head coach Frank Lampard promised after the loss to Real that he "won't let anyone off the hook in terms of seeing this season out," it's understandable if supporters are already looking ahead to the 2019–20 campaign.
Former owner and Russian businessman Roman Abramovich placed Chelsea up for sale in early March 2022, citing the "best interest of the Club" considering Russia's invasion of Ukraine. According to gambling news sources, the UK government sanctioned Abramovich in May to "isolate" Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Despite showing Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali's financial dedication to the cause, Chelsea's current approach to spending, spending, and more spending has not paid instant returns. Instead, it has caused a variety of short-term and probably long-term concerns.
