NFL Betting Tips – Week 13 Betting Preview

NFL Betting Tips – Week 13 Betting PreviewInjuries to the New England Patriots finally cost them this past weekend, as New England lost their first game in the season in an overtime loss at Denver. Losing the game wasn’t the worst part of the Patriots Sunday, as they still have a comfortable four-game lead in the AFC East over the New York Jets.

The worst part was yet another injury to the Patriots offense – this time watching Tight End Rob Gronkowski go down late in the fourth quarter. Adding that injury to the slew of missing receivers as well as RB Dion Lewis means Tom Brady now has to make due with a depleted receiving corps. It will be interesting to see if the Patriots try to win as many games as possible and risk more injuries, or simply pull back and try to remain healthy over the final weeks.

The online sportsbooks list the Pats as a big 10-point home favorite this Sunday against a fading Philadelphia team that has lost three straight.

NBA Betting Tips – NBA Trade Deadline

NBA Betting Tips – NBA Trade DeadlineOne of the trickier times to handicap any sport is in the final week prior to the trade deadline. This is particularly true for the NBA, as basketball teams have much smaller rosters than other sports (such as the NFL or MLB), and a trade involving three or four players basically devastates that team’s active roster for an entire game.

For this reason, it is wise to wait as close to tip-off before placing a wager either on or against an NBA team in case any late-breaking trades are released. The worst thing that can happen to someone betting on the NBA is to do all of the handicapping, only to have that work wasted by a surprise trade.

The NBA’s All-Star break was this past weekend, but there have been no NBA games played so far this week. There are three games scheduled for Thursday – the same day that all trades must be finalized. The six teams involved in those Thursday games is what this NBA handicapping approach really applies to this year.

Baseball Betting Tips – Wild, Wild (AL) West

Baseball Betting Tips – Wild, Wild (AL) West At the end of July, the Houston Astros took over first place in the AL West Division. About a week earlier, they just acquired starting pitcher Scott Kazmir from the Oakland Athletics in one of the bigger trade-deadline deals. Things were looking up for a team that finished 22 games under .500 a season ago.

The Astros maintained that lead in the AL West all the way until this past Tuesday, when a walk-off sacrifice fly by Mitch Moreland gave Texas a 6-5 victory over the visiting Astros and gave the Rangers a half-game lead in the division.

Houston has lost nine of their last 13 games overall heading into Wednesday night, with six of those defeats coming as favorite. Blindly backing the Astros in that span would have an MLB bettor down 8.2 units.

NBA Betting Tips – NBA Betting Update

NBA Betting Tips – NBA Betting UpdateThe big news in the NBA this past week was Golden State suffering their first loss of the season. After starting the year with a perfect 24-0 record the Warriors lost the last game of a nine-game road swing in Milwaukee. The Bucks celebrated that win on their home court, but have to face a revenge-minded Warriors team that is eager to play the rematch. No doubt Golden State will be a heavy favorite, and we wouldn’t want to take the points with the visiting Bucks as the Warriors likely look to run up the score.

Now at 25-1 on the season, the Warriors still haven’t been able to build a big lead in the standings. San Antonio has nearly been step-for-step with Golden State, and are just 3.5 game behind the Warriors in the Western Conference entering Thursday night’s basketball betting action.

Spurs are 22-5 and are just one tenth of a point behind Golden State in terms of average ppg differential. The Warriors are +13.5 while San Antonio is +13.4, and the next best team (Oklahoma City) is nowhere close to those two clubs at +7.3 ppg.

NFL Betting Tips: What We Saw Week 1

NFL Betting Tips: What We Saw Week 1 There were a few surprises in the opening weekend of NFL action, but the real headline was the number of injuries to star players. Among the notable injuries were wide receivers TY Hilton, DeSean Jackson, and Dez Bryant, quarterbacks Josh McCown and Derek Carr, and running backs Andre Ellington and Reggie Bush.

We’ll have to wait and see how those injuries affect the play on the field, but overall there were a few notable performances from a team perspective that caught our eye.

The Brady-to-Gronk connection looks to be one of the league’s best, as that combination accounted for three touchdowns in their seven-point win (as a seven-point favorite) against Pittsburgh on Thursday night.
