Fred VanVleet signed with the Houston Rockets as the NBA free agency period opened. However, most big names opted to stay with their respective teams.
Draymond Green, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Kuzma, and Kris Middleton stayed with their teams. However, VanVleet signed a three-year contract with Houston worth $130 million.
According to online bookie software reports, VanVleet was an undrafted player who became an NBA champion with Toronto. He will earn around $525,000 a game for the next three years. Also, the amount almost matched what he made as a rookie with the Raptors.
NBA Free Agency
There will be a second go-around for Irving and Doncic in Dallas. Green will follow in the footsteps of Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee, while Stephen Curry will do the same in Golden State.
And for a lot of cash, Jerami Grant has decided to remain in Portland. According to the best bookie pay per head, almost $1.5 billion in agreements were made in the first three hours of NBA free agency on Friday night, continuing the league's habit of a quick and lavish start. The most lucrative contracts may be signed after midnight EDT on July 1, the beginning of a new league year.
Both Tyrese Haliburton of Indiana and Desmond Bane of Memphis have agreed to maximum contract extensions beginning in the 2024–25 season. The actual dollar amounts will not be revealed until next season's salary limit is published, but they are expected to be at least $207 million over five years.
If Haliburton makes an All-NBA team, the value of his contract could increase to $260 million in a supermax scenario. This past season, Haliburton made the All-Star team with the Pacers, and Bane broke out for the Grizzlies, scoring 21.5 points per game.
According to sportsbook watchdog sources, the Mavericks traded for Irving in February. However, they faltered down the line and missed the playoffs. They were able to keep him thanks to a three-year, $126 million agreement. With this agreement, perhaps the largest free agent is no longer available.
