Week 4 NFL Sunday Recap – Underdog Takeaways

Week 4 NFL Sunday Recap – Underdog TakeawaysThis last Sunday gave Week 4 a ton of NFL betting action with a dish of drama on the side.  For one, we now only have 3 undefeated teams and some of those undefeated teams lost in a surprising shut out making the handicappers scratch their heads.

It was a definite underdog weekend with the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals, two of the most respected teams in the league each dropping to 1-3.

The big news is how the New England Patriots received a beat down from the Buffalo Bills that ended with a final score of 16-0.  The Patriots had a great start this season despite Tom Brady’s suspension but it looks like realty is finally catching up with the Patriots without Tom Brady at the helm.

Of course, much of the credit for their defeat goes to Coach Rex Ryan who delivered a tight defense against the team who had not had a shutout at home since 1993.  The Bills have had two surprising wins in their last two games and will we see more of that for Week 5?  Bottom line is that the Patriots need Tom Brady to make it to the finals and he will be back in the game for Week 5.

One great game to watch was the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers matchup.  It was a high scoring game which ended up in a 48-33 win for the underdog.  The Falcons came in the game as a +3 underdog despite having won their last 2 games and once again, the bookies were off the mark.BetOnline.ag

So far, the Panthers are off to a bad start and if this keeps up, it will be a disappointing season for them with a current 1-3 record.  In addition, Newton was sacked pretty hard and now has to pass through the league’s concussion protocol.

Falcon fans certainly enjoyed this game as Atlanta totally dominated this matchup from an offensive point of view and are currently averaging an amazing 38 points per game!

Another undefeated team that went down in flames are the Baltimore Ravens who suffered a 27-28 loss to the Raiders.  The worst part of this defeat for the Ravens is probably how the Raiders came back from a 27-21 deficit thanks to an amazing touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree with only two minutes left on the clock.

Much to the disappointments of many online sportsbooks, the Ravens were not able to turn this game around leading to a striking defeat.

We still have one more game before we say good bye to Week 4 when the New York Giants take on the Minnesota Vikings at 8:30pm ET tonight at U.S. Bank Stadium.  NFL sportsbooks such as BetOnline.ag have the Vikings as a 4.5 favorite.

If the football handicappers are correct it will place them as a 4-0 undefeated team for a great start despite missing Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson.
