Governor Ducey Signed the Comprehensive Arizona Gaming Expansion

Governor Ducey signed into law the vast Arizona gaming expansion last April 15. Also, the state government amended the Tribal-State Gaming Compacts. As a result, sports betting, daily fantasy contests, and keno games became available on and off the tribal ground in the state.
The gambling expansion also made mobile lottery draw games legal in Arizona. According to sportsbook pay per head reports, the gambling expansion bill will take effect after the US Secretary of the Interior approves the Compact amendments and its publication in the Federal Register.
Senate Bill 1797 and House Bill 2772 allow sports wagering on Tribal grounds at tribal casinos. According to bookie resources, the bills allow bookies to accept wagers outside of Tribal lands. However, operators need to apply for sports betting licenses.
Comprehensive Arizona Gaming Expansion
Licensed operators will include the Tribes and sports franchises. The state will offer ten licenses to the Arizona pro sports team and ten licenses to Tribes. According to SportsbookSOS.com sources, The Phoenix Suns signed a deal with FanDuel to open a sports betting lounge at the Phoenix Suns Arena.
The Professional Golf Association has a partnership with DraftKings to operate a TPC Scottsdale sportsbook. It is where the PGA holds the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Also, the new law allows up to ten sports betting licenses for licensed off-site betting sites and racetracks.
The Arizona Department of Gaming will still oversee Tribal gaming operations. Also, it will handle off-reservation gaming in Arizona. The agency will administer and manage the sports betting license application process.
Applicants need to pay a non-refundable license fee. However, the ADG still hasn’t determined the amount. Also, the ADG oversees creating the application and licensing processes.
The new law allows 21 years old and above to wager on sports by phone anywhere in Arizona. However, it is still unclear how mobile betting will be handled on Tribal grounds.
