NASCAR sports gambling policy banned drivers and staff members from gambling on races. It is part of the company’s efforts to protect the integrity of the sport. The new policy covers everyone who has a NASCAR license.
According to the new guideline, drivers and other team members can’t engage in any legal or illegal gambling activity involving NASCAR. The policy covers all gambling activities, including those available in a casino, race track gaming venue, online, pay per head bookie, and other gaming facilities.
Also, NASCAR bans drivers and staff from wagering on off-track actions, including race locations, proposition bets, disciplinary matters, and team driver signings. It looks like people connected with NASCAR can’t use the best sports betting software to wager on the sport. However, they can still place bets on other sports.
New NASCAR Sports Gambling Policy
In October, NASCAR president Steve Phelps said new sports gambling policy will be part of the 2019 rulebooks. During the same month, Dover International Speedway opened an on-site betting kiosk. It is the first track to allow sports betting on-site.
There’s a lot of interest in sports betting these days after the Supreme Court made the activity legal for all states. As a result, major sports leagues embraced gambling as a norm. NASCAR made industry news headlines when it partnered with Sportradar Integrity Services to ensure the integrity of its competition.
The new policy is the result of the organization’s efforts to protect competition. In addition, it provides the industry guidelines on how to comply with the rules. Also, NASCAR said fantasy games are allowed among its members. However, they can’t accept prizes of more than $250 from fantasy games.
Members found violating the NASCAR sports gambling policy will have their license revoked. They will also receive the terms they need to fulfill for reinstatement.
