DC sports betting app GambetDC ran into several technical issues during its first weekend of operations. Some players reported that the geolocation service of the app couldn’t pinpoint their locations within the District.
GeoComply, the geolocation provider for GambetDC, stated that their services were working as intended. However, they did concede that people next to areas where sports betting was prohibited might not be able to wager on sports.
Areas, where sports wagering are banned, include places around stadiums and federal properties. Players who are less than half a mile from the DC border might be blocked from using the app. They need to move away from the border and retry placing a bet.

State regulators posted Michigan sports betting draft rules regarding the use of official league data. The proposed regulations gave sportsbooks a way to challenge the official league data requirement.
According to the state sports betting law, in-play bets require the use of official league data. However, the draft rules offer a way for operators who are unsatisfied with the mandate. By default, sports betting companies can only use approved information source for Tier 2 sports wagers.
A sports governing body based in the US can notify state regulators of the use of their official league data. Also, providers of league data need to apply for a supplier license from the state. Sportsbook operators have 60 days to swift towards the official league data after the request notification.

Operators can use approved data sources if official league data is unavailable for a specific type of in-play bet, according to sportsbook pay per head sources. Also, operators can petition the board if they find the terms of the official league data provider not commercially viable.

Legalizing sports betting in the US is a bit tedious, since its up to each state’s legislation to allow it or not. If they do allow it, the terms that covers it will vary. For some states, becoming a bookie is easy, but for some, it can be hard. For some states, you can operate a sportsbook pay per head online, through a pay per head service. For others, its limited to brick and mortar casinos. Even then, the sports allowed to bet on can also be limited.
In the case of Tennessee, it could be one or any of these terms that is holding the sports betting industry back. True enough, towards the end of March, the sports betting bill currently being discussed was under fire from a lot of legislators opposing the bill.
